The 60 yard dash is a sprint that covers a distance of 60 yards. This test is primarily used to evaluate the speed of an American football player. This test result has a heavy impact on the athlete's prospects in college or professional football. This test is widely used in many sports now, though it is not an official race in the track and field events, nor is an IAAF organized event. The timing is considered important for almost every position world wide. The athlete runs twice in the test for 60 yards, on each run he is timed by two hand held stopwatches and an electronic timer.
